Hockey Director – Novi Youth Hockey Association

Overview:

Novi Youth Hockey Association is seeking a passionate and organized Hockey Director to oversee all hockey programs, including Learn to Play, House and Travel. The focus of this position will consist of player development, coaching support, program management, and fostering a positive hockey experience for players and families. This will be a paid, independent contractor position, including base compensation and various incentives.

Responsibilities:

  • - Plan, implement, and evaluate all hockey programs.
  • - Lead Learn to Play, 6U and 8U programs.
  • - Support tryouts, house drafts, and team placements.
  • - Mentor and oversee coaches; maintain USA Hockey certifications.
  • - Develop and implement a player retention plan and promote association growth.
  • - Work with local high school hockey programs to create a feeder system to the high school teams.
  • - Serve as a primary point of communication for parents and staff.
  • - Assist the NYHA with scheduling, league events, and arena coordination.
  • - Assist the NYHA Board with issues within teams and programming.

Qualifications:

  • - Knowledge of the American Development Model (ADM) and youth hockey development.
  • - Strong organizational, planning, and communication skills.
  • - Energetic, professional, and passionate about hockey.
  • - Must maintain USA Hockey registration, SafeSport certification, and background checks.
  • - Must have all required USA Hockey coaching modules and be a Level 4 coach or higher, or have at least 5 years of coaching experience.
